Westside Gunn: Music, Style, and the Griselda Legacy
Westside Gunn, born Alvin Lamar Worthy, is more than just a rapper. He’s a curator, visionary, and founder of one of the most influential underground hip-hop movements in decades: Griselda Records. Hailing from Buffalo, New York, Gunn turned his city into a new epicenter of gritty, boom-bap revivalism, and he did it with an eye for detail, high fashion, and elite lyricism.
A Rough Start, A Ruthless Grind
Gunn’s journey wasn’t smooth. After spending time in prison and navigating street life, he channeled his energy into music. In 2012, he launched Griselda Records, named after the infamous drug lord Griselda Blanco, and slowly built a cult-like following with his brother Conway the Machine and cousin Benny the Butcher.
Albums That Hit Hard
Westside Gunn's discography is rich and expansive. Some of his most celebrated works include:
-
Flygod (2016) — The cult classic that introduced Gunn’s artful blend of street tales and avant-garde taste.
-
Supreme Blientele (2018) — A lyrical powerhouse featuring production from Daringer, The Alchemist, and Pete Rock.
-
Pray for Paris (2020) — Inspired by a trip to Paris Fashion Week, this album balances luxury with the raw.
-
Who Made the Sunshine (2020) — His major-label debut under Shady Records.
-
10 (2022) — The final installment in his "Hitler Wears Hermes" mixtape series.

What’s Next
Gunn has hinted that he may be stepping back from rapping, but he’s far from done. He’s focused on executive production, film, and expanding the Griselda brand. His rumored projects include:
-
A joint album with The Alchemist
-
More music from the Hall & Nash duo (Gunn + Conway)
-
Art exhibitions and fashion collabs under his FLYGOD label
